Penn Central had a total of 275 GP-40s. The first units coming from New York Central  which had 105 units. Penn Central received their first order in October 1968 numbers 3105-3169. The second order 3170-3259 had the first 17 units painted with the "orange C's" in the PC logo instead of the standard all-white logo. The unit here is 3186 with the orange C. During the life of the GP-40's they could be found on PC Van trains to regular manifest freights. By the early 70's the orange C had faded to pink.   (Credit- Wikipedia)
